A message from SJ RS Pres. R. Brown: "Thank you for the wonderful turnout and all the work to make this happen. I talked with Sis. Reed today in Taylor and they had a great turnout, too. We finished 24 quilts instead of the planned 20! Thank you to everyone."
More than 100 women of the St. Johns Stake came together on Saturday to participate in the Hearts & Hands humanitarian quilting project organized under the direction of the newly called Stake Relief Society presidency. The quilting project was scheduled for this date as part of a multi-stake activity with Relief Society organizations throughout the White Mountains working on this day to produce quilts for humanitarian services.

Sis. Nielson served a humanitarian mission and shared stories on how various items were used including dolls and stuffed animals, quiet books, personal care packages, etc.

Working throughout the day was a multi-generational activity with several Young Women participating in the humanitarian service project.

There were a couple "Little Ladies" in attendance during the day, too!

A lovely meal of cheese soup in sourdough roll bowls was served for lunch. Sisters took a break from the work at their leisure and enjoyed conversation and a video of Bro. Marc Platt distributing quilts to orphans in Haiti while he served in the military there in 1994.

Another of the Little Ladies...

There were even ladies who took a "break" from work to join in the effort of working together to serve others.

She isn't the baby's mom but loves mothering her all the same!

A favorite picture...can you guess why?

They weren't the only three generation family in attendance but it is the only picture of three generations working together to serve others that happened to be captured this day. What a wonderful example of charity by mother and grandmother.

A Little Mommy with her baby...

Women and Young Women of all ages and abilities worked together during the day and completed 20 quilts for humanitarian services plus an additional quilt that someone brought to be completed.
It was a good day. Thank you to everyone who participated and a special thanks for those who were able to help with set-up and clean-up. You are appreciated.
